An opportunity has arisen within Wealden's Planning Enforcement and Environment team for an enthusiastic and efficient individual to assist in implementing the Council's duties and responsibilities relating to the operational and enforcement aspects of waste management and street cleansing.
In particular, the post holder will work within a small team and on their own to respond to reports of fly tipping and other nuisance and will investigate abandoned vehicles and undertake removal procedures. You will also assist in the investigation of environmental crimes and the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices as required under the CNEA legislation and help to promote public awareness of environmental issues.
You must be able to communicate courteously, sympathetically and efficiently with members of the public. Experience in the key aspects of enforcement, good organisational skills and attention to detail will also be necessary requirements together with good IT skills. You must be prepared to undertake training in RIPA and PACE.
A council van will be provided for work use so you will require a full clean driving licence and a good knowledge of the district would be an advantage.
